Store Associates - Store Manager


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.College education is preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years prior retail management experience required.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Food Worker’s Permit.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Pharmacy Assistant certification.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office including: Outlook, Word and Excel and knowledge of store systems; Magstar, POS, ELT,Dayforce and Microsoft AX.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent reaching at all levels to stock shelves and/or operate a cash register. Frequent repetitive hand movements and fine finger manipulation to operate a cash register. Occasional repetitive arm movement to stock shelves. Constant handling and grasping of merchandise, containers, cartons, and/or money.

  • Must frequently bend or stoop to stock below waist-height shelves and to remove merchandise from carts. Crouching, twisting, or pivoting at the waist and kneeling or squatting to low shelves also required.

  • Must be able to frequently lift 20-40 lbs. from floor to chest. Frequently lift 1-2 lbs. from floor to 7 feet.

  • Must frequently carry 1-2 lbs. for 5 to 10 feet. Occasionally carry 20 to 40 lbs. for 15 feet.

  • Must be able to push/pull 25 to 40 lbs. of force occasionally.

  • Must on occasion climb ladder or step stool.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time with walks of short distances at a brisk pace.

  • Must be able to operate a hand truck, shopping cart, stock carts, electronic cash register, pricing guns, box crushers, box cutter, conveyor belt, the photo department computer, MSI ordering machine, telephone, intercom, and various POS equipment where applicable.


Primary Objective: Responsible for meeting or exceeding sales and contribution goals for assigned store.  Will also successfully lead the retail operations of assigned store within Company standards, while enthusiastically supporting efforts to maintain and grow the front of store sales and profitability through the development of strategic, innovative, and profitable initiatives which improve the bottom line and expand market share. In addition, will foster an effective partnership with pharmacy peers to grow pharmacy sales and ultimately grow total store sales. This role must ensure the provision of consistent, high-level guest service by all store staff, and maintain positive guest and employee relations.


Reports to:  Regional Retail Leader


Directly supervises:  Assistant Managers and Cashiers.


Major Responsibilities and Duties Which May Be Considered Essential:


Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic leader, seeking new, improved and innovative ways to increase effectiveness and proper execution of store operations, with the ultimate goal of growing sales and profitability. Ensure store operations alignment with Company Mission, Vision and Core Values.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Lead the effort in recruiting, hiring, training and developing new talent.
  • Perform annual performance evaluations of assigned staff.
  • Oversee and support the leadership development of assigned managers.
  • Effectively build high-performing teams. Oversee the management of store-level human resources and address human resources matters in a timely manner to optimize store performance, while minimizing lost opportunities for the Company.
  • Model leadership and professionalism by enforcing company policies, guest service standards, employee’s performance, etc. Maintain proper control of store expenses, including labor, to ensure adherence with company guidelines and budget.

  • Maximize profitability through proper oversight and compliance with merchandising and operational standards.

  • Safeguard store assets to include daily cash deposits, petty cash funds, and each register’s cash flow. Ensure daily register balances are done correctly and timely.

  • Tactfully and proactively address issues as they arise in a courteous and reasonable manner.

  • On occasion, and as needed, will operate a cash register to itemize and total customer’s purchases.

  • Must be courteous and maintain professional interpersonal communication skills with customers, store staff and supervisors. Must handle refunds/exchanges effectively and timely.

  • Will perform other duties as assigned.
